Public Access
Get out there.
Whether you’re looking for a sunny knoll to picnic on or an epic ridge to summit, we want to make sure that residents of Butte, Glenn, and Tehama County can find wild places in their own backyard. Creating and maintaining safe and environmentally sustainable public access is costly and requires careful planning and active management. Together with landowners, agencies, and other partner organizations, we work to ensure that open spaces are responsibly developed and maintained so they can remain open for the enjoyment of all.
Conservation Easements
The Northern California Regional Land Trust is one of many land trusts across California that is working with the Pacific Forest and Watershed Lands Stewardship Council to accept conservation easements on select Pacific Gas & Electric Company properties as part of the 2004 lawsuit settlement. Many parcels in these easements already support recreational infrastructure, and future changes to licensing or land ownership could provide a platform for community input on development of additional recreational resources. Subscribe to our newsletter to hear about future opportunities for stakeholder input on public access and recreation on these PG&E lands, or any other properties we steward.
