Ecotopia! Hear our Director’s informative, LIVE interview with Stephen and Susan on January 28th at KZFR studios

Live from KZFR Studios, Executive Director Cynthia Graves Perrine sits for an informative interview with Ecotopia’s Stephen and Susan Tchudi

With excellent and informed interviewers, led by curiosity-driven questions, Cynthia was guided through the following topics:

  • What IS a conservation easement? Hint: It’s a real estate transaction to formalize an agreement between the landowner and the land trust, in perpetuity

  • Our local partners, AltaCal Bird Alliance, California Native Plant Society, Friends of Butte Creek, Butte County Collaborative Group, Ca Department of Fish and Wildlife, Central Valley Joint Venture, and our cooperative work to plan, and to reflect on project successes in community with fellow stewards

  • Our “Stewardship Council” projects, five projects created in partnership to permanently protect PG&E watershed lands through conservation easement

  • The story of conserving The Abbey of New Clairvaux through the Sustainable Agricultural Lands Conservation Program, Regenerative Agriculture

  • Regional conservation planning tools, including CNDDB, State Wildlife Action Plans, California Wildlife Habitat Relationship System, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

  • Land Management Plans – each conservation agreement includes a plan to establish objectives based on the Baseline Documentation Report

  • Deer Creek Preserve, our story of Wildlife Conservation Board (WCB) funding to conserve key watershed resources, and protect an essential asset – the fish ladder at Lower Deer Creek Falls

Our region has a rich conservation history. These projects take years to create, with many people carrying the water to see the vision through
— Cynthia, describing the Land Trust lineage

We appreciated The Tchudi’s invitation to share a snap shot of Northern California Regional Land Trust mission-driven accomplishments, discuss current initiatives, and demystify the regional planning and conservation easement process with stories from the land, about people, and protecting land forever!

This outreach to demystify conservation, explain regional planning tools, and celebrate accomplishments with our whole community is supported in part by our donors, and in part through grant funding from a California Department of Conservation (DOC) Capacity Grant, and our Sierra Nevada Americorps Partnership (SNAP) which are accelerating conservation in synergy with the 30 x 30 California movement.
